Vol. 07
April 17, 2020WHAT’S NEW
Another week inside and another week trying to find things to do inside. This week we have a rundown on inspiring shows to watch on Netflix, playlists to listen to, and how you can help out NYC restaurants by purchasing a t-shirt.
CULTURE CORNER
Watch
Now is probably a better time than ever to catch up on all the Netflix shows you have been meaning to watch. To keep ourselves inspired during isolation, we’ve been streaming some of our favorite design & cooking shows like:
Abstract: The Art of Design
Interior Design Masters
Ugly Delicious with David Chang
Listen
It’s easy to get tired of your own music and playlists you have been playing on repeat for the last month. Here are some playlists on Spotify that we have been working at home lately:
Pujol Dia 2018 by Enrique Olvera Figuras
Ban.do Mixtape Vol. 3 by shopbando
Quarantine Mix: Songs for a montage of you laying on a couch contemplating life rn. by Kelly Oxford
Give
There are many ways to help the food and service industry during this time of crisis. One way is to buy merch (that you can sport for forever because a t-shirt with a slice of pizza on it is timeless). Some local NYC restaurant merch we are eyeing is this t-shirt from Gertie, these patches from Court Street Grocers and HI HI Room, and these logo tees from Scarr’s Pizza.
Cook
It feels like everyone in quarantine is baking bread now, and since we found yeast at our local Italian restaurant Carmentas, so are we. We’ve dabbled in everything from dutch oven bread that rose over-night, and skillet flatbread that didn’t need time (or yeast) to rise at all. Here are our favorite bread recipes we’ve tried so far:
No-Knead Bread recipe by Mark Bittman in New York Times Cooking
BA’s Best Banana Bread recipe by Bon Apétit
Shockingly Easy No-Knead Focaccia recipe by Sarah Jampel on Basically
And for those who have still yet to find yeast in their local grocery store Skillet Flatbread recipe by King Arthur Flour
