Best Spots in Portland, Maine

One of the first features we ever shared in coolstuff.nyc was a travel guide to Portland, Maine. Well ,we’ve grown a lot since then, and so has Portland! Stay

Blind Tiger
For: warm hospitality & a beautiful (newly renovated) space.



Eat

Crispy Gai
For: modern Thai food & great cocktails.

Rose Foods
For: a rye bagel and playful merch by Family of Brothers.

Red’s Dairy Freeze
For: the best soft serve (probably everywhere?). Grab a cone on your way to Portland Head Light.

Wayside Tavern
For: a nice sit-down dinny in an old house with a space that feels like it keeps going…we love their brussels gratin & pork dishes!

Ramonas
For: fun to-go sammies that are perfect for bringing to the promenade.


Mr Tuna
For: Portland’s favorite mobile sushi bar. You’ll find him popping up around the city during ur stay.

Drink

Tandem Coffee & Bakery
For: small batch roasts and the malt iced coffee. PS get the breakfast biscuit!

Smalls
For: an excellent cortado or a classic negroni (or both) in the cutest space.

Little Woodfords
For: good coffee in a little pink shop.

Maps
For: a casual dive bar where the theme is - you guessed it - maps, and of course, great Maine beer.


Allagash Brewery
For: the city’s most famous brewery just outside of Portland’s downtown. Grab a flight of beer and a couple of snax! Mr. Tuna might even be popping-up near by.

For: dreamy women’s clothing by small labels like Ulla Johnson & Correll Correll.


Portland Flea for All
For old records and mid-century chairs.


Portland Trading Co.
For niche magazines & hand made ceramics.

Smalls
For: the cutest & best curated little shop in the back of the coffee shop. Shop so many of our cool friends here! (Yes, the same Smalls from the drink section above!)

For: a small boutique with items all arranged by color…


Blanche & Mimi
For: vintage silverware, sachets of lavender & our favorite gem in the city.

The Merchant Co
For: thrifted finds and local artist posters & prints!

Terlingua
For: the shop connected to the Terlingua restaurant. Shop Mexican tote bags and pantry staples.

The Post Supply
For: one of the newest shops in Portland. Shop here for your favorite cookbooks, candles & nice linens.

Eastern Promenade
For: long walks on the beach, with snow on the sand.

Portland Head Light
For: another lighthouse view worthy of the short drive.
